During the last several years, the industry has been speaking about imminently becoming apart from Flash as a programming base for ads, so as to give way to the use of HTML5.
The benefit HTML5 shows is everytime more important: it is a technology supported by all devices (from desktop to mobile) and all browsers.
This goes in hand with the huge traffic growth coming from cross device, more precisely mobile devices, that do not support Flash ads.
Additionally, as less resources are consumed and thus websites’ loading times are reduced, HTML5 is the technology to be fostered from now on.
By the middle of 2015 it was publicly known that Google Chrome was going to definitely block all Flash programmed ads as from September 1st. Due to this and the aforementioned reasons, from e-planning, we’ll be detailing the solution to convert Flash ads into HTML5 in a very simple way from the tool.
The automatic conversion option is only available for STANDARD FORMATS. For RICH MEDIA FORMATS a HTML5 programming is needed. |

If any of the selected formats are chosen, when uploading the .swf file, an automatic conversion to HTML5 will take place.
Every Flash ad uploaded this way will have its replica version in HTML5. The system will analyze the best alternative to apply according to the device and/or browser the user is browsing from. Therefore, the HTML5 version will be shown in cases when it is not possible to reproduce the original Flash ad.
Some considerations: - It is possible that fontsmay not be 100% converted. This is why we suggest that as from you set the Flash ad fonts are converted to graphic BEFORE generating the .swf file--> Notify the Agency or responsible parties about the design of this important issue. - The system will apply the clicktag in the HTML5 ad total area. - For cases when layers are uploaded, the additional feature of the closing button must be marked so as to be applied to the HTML5 version; otherwise, the user will not be able to close it: - The conversion will NOT apply to Flash - Banner with the following 'effects': Expandible (Rollover / Push content) and Layer button. In case the mentioned effects are selected, the system will not make the conversion to HTML5, so the Flash ad will run without its HTML5 alternative for devices that do not support it. On the contrary, the effects for Layer - Flash will be supported (the alternative HTML5 will be converted): |

Once the ad is uploaded, it will take a few seconds to have the HTML5 version ready.
It should be taken into account that such conversion time will not exceed that of the campaign/ ad activation, so the alternative version will always be shown for users browsing at that time under the aforementioned conditions.
Once created, it may be seen at the View:
To use this version in the referred cases, it must be APPROVED first.
In the options menu of the HTML5 ad, 2 buttons will be displayed: APPROVAL and REJECTION. (These buttons will appear once Flash is converted).
In case the conversion is correct it should be APPROVED, but if the version is not acceptable, it can be REJECTED.
If the time needed to generate the HTML5 is not enough, the system will start sending 'Alerts' of alternative ads pending to be Approved to notify the user who has created the original ad.
The alert is set from 'User Preferences' and will not be active by default, so it is important to activate it at the time you start working in the conversion:

Upon the version’s approval, the indicated buttons will disappear, as well as the alternative version view. As from now on, the alternative version will start running:

IMPORTANT! The functionality of showing Flash original version and/or the alternative HTML5, as applicable, will only be supported by AJAXV4 codes (Multiple for Section/Subsection or Space). If other code version is used, the Flash ad will be always displayed. Follow these recommendations for a successful flash ads conversion.
• Do not include Movieclips in Group objects. • Do not use Groups with Movieclips, only form. • Do not use Filters, such as blur, shadow, bevel, etc. • Do not use Layer Effects (Mix), such as difference, substract, add, etc. • Use classic motion interpolation if possible . • When importing objects from Illustrator or other software, check the above mentioned conditions are met in the movieclips. • Do not use masks in excess. • Do not use masks when you want to cut the same size as the stage, as what remains outside will never be displayed. • When importing files from other software as Illustrator, make sure the images are bmp, jpg, png or a similar image format and not in divided objects as this may generate hundreds and even thousands of objects within the swf. This can produce a slow and blurred visualization effect when making the HTML5 conversion, or even hinder the conversion altogether. |

Attention!
At e-planning, we believe automatic conversion to be the best solution during this transitional period of an eventual evolution to direct creation of HTML5 ads.
We recommend the continual use of our tools to creat HTML5 ads and avoid the conversion process.
