Whenever you receive a tag you need to follow some steps to make sure that the ads are being shown and that the macro inserted is ok.

Before uploading the tag in e-planning:

Save the tag in an .html document to make sure that is has an ad running. For that purpose you´ll need to save the tag as an .html file from your notepad or from a notepad ++

Open the file in a browser:

If the ad appears is ok, you can now search for the right macro to add.

If the ad doesn´t appear, you can run another test:

Run the tag as if it were online:

For this purpose you´ll need to host the .html file you´ve created in the first place.

You can use FileZilla Image Added

Now if you check the new URL you should see the ad:

Some tags need to be tested online. This may happen with Sizmek (MediaMind) and Double Click tags and other tags.

Also take into account that if the ad running in the 3rd party ad server has a condition to be shown, you may not see the ad. This can be related to GEO targeting for instance.

If all tests prove that the ad is not appearing you´ll need to contact the tag provider to check why.

If the ad shows, you´ll need now to insert the e-planning counting macro.

This will depend on the ad server the tag comes from. Besides that all systems have different type of tags so the macro can change as well.

Always consider using our documented tags to have them as references.

e.g --> DoubleClick tag: e-planning macro

We also have a new option to Automatically insert Counting Macros

Uploading the tag in e-planning:

Once the macro is inserted you can upload the tag in e-planning using the following option: “Import 3P ad server tag”

Complete all the mandatory fields and try to always check the size of the ad. This is required for the “Fixed- Size” option:

It usually comes expressed in the tag:

Now you have your tag in e-planning. In order to complete the test you´ll need to check if inside e-planning the ad behaves ok (it shows correctly and it counts clicks).

Retrieve the Javascript Tag of one of the spaces were the ad is associated:

With that tag create an .html file in your notepad (notepad ++):

Obtained URL: http://demos.e-planning.net/SBorneo/test_728x90.html

If you happen to have the right conditions to see the ads you´ll see them (e.g.: IP Address)

Try to click the ad as many times as you can and refresh the page in between so as to record clicks in e-planning.

Then check the statistics and if the macro was ok, you´ll see clicks if not you´ll need to re check the macro.

That´s the right way to complete a tag test, not by clicking the ad in the “new window”:
