Geographic Targeting

Geographic Targeting

This type of targeting functions by means of the recognition of each user’s IP.

Targeting at the Level of the Campaign

To enable the targeting from the campaign, you should access the following menu: Targeting > Country Targeting.

Positive Targeting

Show in these countries: By selecting this option, you can choose the country or countries where you would like the campaign to be visible.

You can choose several countries at the same time. There are two available options:
  •  Select each country manually, and add them to the box on the right.
  •  Select a “Group of Countries” that has been previously created (e.g.: “LatAm”). (See related articles.)

If you select “Latam”, the campaign will only be shown to those users whose IP belongs to any of the Latin American countries (included in the selected Group).

Negative Targeting

Do not show in these countries: By selecting this option, you will exclude all the countries where you do not want the campaign to be displayed.

If you select “Brazil” due to a linguistic matter, the campaign will be displayed to those users whose IP does not belong to Brazil (i.e., it will be shown to users from all countries except Brazil).

Advanced Geographic Targeting

Once you have selected a country, a new menu drops down in order to give more details regarding the targeting area. You can target each option either positively or negatively.

Important Note:

- This functionality is active if you choose up to 5 countries. As of the 6th selected country, the Advanced Geographic Targeting will no longer be available.

- You can only use 1 option, and not more than 1 at the same time. E.g.: If you target the campaign according to “Regions”, it is not possible to do it regarding “Cities” as well.

City: You enable cities that correspond to the selected countries.

Region: You enable regions corresponding to the selected countries.

Zip Code: This is only enabled for certain countries. The selected countries zip codes will be enabled.

Phone Area Code: This targeting is enabled for certain countries.

Network: The selected countries networks are enabled.

DMA and CBSA Codes: This targeting type is only enabled for the USA.

Targeting at the Level of the Ad

On the “Add ads” page, you can also apply the geographic targeting, either in a positive or negative way.

The ads acquire the same targeting that has been applied to the campaign. For example, if the campaign has been targeted to Argentina, Brazil and Peru, the ads can be targeted to be viewed (or not viewed) in some of those 3 countries. However, ads cannot be targeted to be displayed in a country that was not selected at the moment of creating the campaign.

In this example, the ad will be available only to those users whose IP is from Brazil.
