Targeting Criteria

Targeting Criteria

Targeting criteria are optional and they will be all disabled by default.

In order to use one or more criteria, you should activate them from the “Targeting” section when adding a campaign.

You can target campaigns according to the following:

  • Country
  • IP
  • Language
  • Bandwidth
  • Connection Type
  • Browser
  • Operating System
  • Targeting by web page URLs:

  • Country Targeting:

If you choose the option “Disabled”, the campaign will be shown to all users. The option “Show in these countries” will allow you to choose one or more countries from the menu where the campaign will be shown.

The option “Do not show in these countries” allows you to specify in which countries you do not want to show the campaign. Consequently, it will be shown in all the countries which have NOT been selected. In these last two options, you should select one or more countries from the list. Keep the CTRL key pressed in order to choose more than one option.

Geographic Targeting:
If you selected the Country Targeting, this will enable the possibility of targeting among the selected countries according to geographic criteria such as City, Region, Zip Code*1, Phone Area Code or Network*2.

Please note that this option will only appear if you select between 1 and 5 countries. If you select more than 5 countries, the advanced geographic targeting will be disabled.

*1Zip Code targeting is only available for the USA and Canada.
*2For countries with more than 1000 networks, the list will only show the ones that register a certain amount of impressions in the last 3 days. This is to make sure the campaing will run if an specific netowrk is selected.

Groups of Countries/Networks/Regions/Cities: If groups have already been created in the interface, they will appear automatically when choosing the Country Targeting (“Show in these countries”) option. To activate the group, click on the button that carries the name of the group of your choice (for instance, “Latam”). This allows you to speed up the addition of campaigns, and saves you from having to select country by country (region by region or city by city) from the list. To obtain more information about this topic, see the article: 'Grouping settings'

  • IP Address Targeting:

This option is very helpful if you want to test a campaign before launching it to the production stage. For example, you can target it to the office’s IP in order to carry out different types of tests. Once those tests are finished, it will be released all over the world.

  • Language Targeting:

You can choose to show the campaign only to users that use a particular language. Or else, you can show it to all if you leave this option disabled. In order to carry out the targeting, the system will consider the language that has been set up in the user’s browser.

  • Bandwidth Targeting:

You can show the campaign to those users who have a determined Internet connection.

  •  Connection Type Targeting:
For 'Mobile' campaigns you can use 'Cellular' connection to show the campaign just for users connected with a data service (3G/4G). Another option is to select 'Cable/DSL' + a Mobile device characteristic like 'Wifi Connection' (From 'Mobile device targeting') so as to show the campaign to users connected through Wifi.

  • Browser Type Targeting:

You can choose to show the campaign only to users who access the site with certain browsers, or to all users, regardless their browser, if you leave this option disabled.
In addition, by marking the options below, you can choose which browser version is required.

  • Operating System Targeting:

You can choose to show the campaign only to users who access the site with certain operating system, or to all users, regardless their operating system, if you leave this option disabled.

You can also opt to specifically select the operating system version(s):
