How to Send Tracking Pixel URLs + Ad Files to a Target Site

There are times when Advertisers or Agencies must submit an ad’s file to the Publisher, so that Publishers themselves can directly upload it to their Adserver.

In these cases, and to be able to track impressions and clicks from e-planning’s platform, you should send both the files corresponding to the creatives to run and the tracking pixel URLs to the Publisher.

These steps should be followed:

1) Create the site where the campaign is going to run, the zone and a space with a fixed 1x1 size in the platform.

The space’s name may be the same as that of the ad.

If the material is submitted to another Site, the complete process must be repeated.

2) Create a campaign with no type of targeting; it must be associated to the space that was previously created.

- Upload a 1x1 ad (one pixel - *There is an example file below). In the click-through URL you should specify the real landing page to which the ad will redirect users when they click on it. Important Note: The click tracking URL to be sent to the target site will redirect users to this same landing page.

- Then, you should extract the impression and click tracking URLs from the space’s HTML code. You will find detailed information about this step in the document called Impression and Click Tracking URLs (Related Links).

Once you have followed all the above steps, the target site will receive:

- Ad/Creative >> File (.jpeg, .gif, .swf, etc.)
- Click Tracking URL >> Tracking of clicks (it takes into account the landing page specified in the ad).
- Impression Tracking URL >> Tracking of impressions

The Publisher should upload the creative and set the click tracking URL that was submitted as the landing page. The Impression tracking URL must be applied in the correct field according to the platform used by the target site (Read the next section: “How to Add URLs to e-planning”).

When the ad is served and clicked on, an overall tracking will be made. This will include, for example, the tracking of the target site and the agency that sent the tracking URL, and also of the clicks and the impressions.

How to Add URLs to e-planning

When receiving the Tracking Pixel URLs, they should be uploaded to e-planning in the following manner:

External Tracking of Clicks >> It should be specified under the field “Click-through URL”.

External Tracking of Impressions >> It should be specified under the field “External Tracking URL”.
